“The celebration... you cannot practice it or anything. It's a moment when the excitement of your goal make you react to the moment.”

3 Piece Band

Lead guitar or keys, bass and drums, these 3 instruments are the nuts and bolts of everything we do at Summer Club Band.  It’s all you need to get the party up and dancing. Also, good for venues that don’t have a lot of space or for weddings for a smaller crowd.

Isn't She Lovely
Can't Feel my Face

4 Piece Band

This band is where most of our sound comes from, consisting of drums, bass, lead singer with guitar and keys. A versatile and energetic combo, this is our most popular band.  Almost every song this and last century includes this line up.

Sorry
No Place I'd Rather Be

5 Piece Band

The smallest of our ˜Big Bands", this wedding band has a classic sound and huge party energy. It looks and sounds amazing. It has the wow factor without breaking the budget. For a bit more edge add another brass and make it a 6 piece.

Can't Stop The Feeling
Valerie

6 Piece Band

Similar to the 5 piece band, you can see in the vids below that 2 brass players is loads of fun. This band is one of our favs to play in.  It’s great to get a dance floor up on it’s feet.

The Way You Make Me Feel
September

7 Piece Band

With a full brass section, Summer Club Band band becomes seriously impressive with 7 musicians, getting even the most conservative people up and partying. Your guests will be completely blown away.

Mustang Sally
Hey Ya

8 Piece Band

A bigger brass section with percussion. Now we're beginning to rival any big band around the world. A night no one will ever forget. This is where Summer Club Band take things to the next level.

Can you learn our bridal waltz or other special songs?

Yes! If your event is a wedding you will undoubtedly be planning a first dance, cake cutting, and other special formalities that will make the night meaningful to you. If you have specific songs you would like played for these moment, please let us know well in advance. If we do not happen to know your request(s), we will look into learning one for you (depending on the difficulty etc). We are also totally happy to play any such songs off the iPod if you prefer to dance to the original song (we won’t be offended if you prefer that). If you need us to learn more than one song, it’s definitely possible, please contact us and we can work through them together.

What kind of lighting do you provide?

When you hire our wedding band in Melbourne you also hire some basic lighting for the dance floor, which we bring along with our PA system. It's enough to create some fun dance vibes and if you think you'd like more, talk with your venue or hire some externally.

How long do you play for and how is that spaced out?

During a 5 hour period the band will play an equivalent of 4 x 45 minute sets. This can be spaced any way you require. For example, a sit down function might have 45 minutes of music while guests arrive and for entree’s, then the band would break over dinner and speeches, ready for the main dance bracket of 3 x 45 minutes sets for the rest of the night. The same sort of structure would apply to a cocktail function. Of course, within reason we are totally flexible on how you space out our time which means we can fit in to any schedule.

What kind of music do you play during the breaks?

We provide all the music you need during our breaks. This includes during the main dance bracket in which the songs a for dancing. Of course, if you would like to supply this music feel free to give us your device to play through our PA We can then play them through our PA to keep people up on the dance floor.

How long for set up and what if we need extra time for canape's or ceremony?

The 5 hour period begins from when the band needs to be fully set up and ready to go. The band will arrive approximately 1 hr prior to start time for setup. Be aware that setting up early or finishing later than the 5 hour mark is considered extra time for the guys and would need to be quoted accordingly. Check out our Canape's & Ceremony Video's and pricing packages

Do the Musicians require meals?

Each wedding band member on the day requires a meal. Check with your venue as this might be included in your booking package. If not, they will usually have discounted crew meals on offer. This needs to be provided in addition to our quoted price. We will let you know about the dietary requirements of each band member with plenty of noitce before your wedding day.

Additional Travel costs?

The prices on our pricing page are for local to Melbourne metro areas. This means for events more than 1 hour away we charge an additional fee for travel. This money is passed onto the musician to cover their time and expenses, whilst providing adequate incentive to play out of town. If your venue is within 60 mins of the CBD, no travel expense need apply.

Can we use your microphone for speeches?

If you need to use our microphone for speeches, or even if you want to get up and sing, we would love to help. You'll just need to let us know in advance of the event. If your guests ask to come up for a sing we will not say yes unless we know that this is what YOU want. We love to encourage participation throughout the night as it creates a fun energy, but we also need to be in control of our performance area for the safety of our equipment, and to ensure that your live band experience is at its best.

What if we want extra time on the night?

It happens quite often with us that the party is up and dancing so much that no one wants to go home. In that case, if you would like the band to play longer, it is negotiated between you and our wedding band directly on the night using cash only.

How does it work with songs requests?

Once you hire us, it’s important that you let us know the style of music that you would like played for your event. Our guys use that information to their advantage when getting the party kicking. That said, it’s also totally fine to leave the music choices 100% to us if you prefer. There are many factors to consider in getting a crowd dancing, and our guys are great at playing a particular song for a given dancefloor demographic, ensuring people are dancing as much as possible. Once you’ve booked us, we’ll ask you for 10 songs you love, and any songs you don’t, which gives us a working “snap-shot” of your taste helping us steer the music in the right direction at any given moment. If you tell us you hate country music, we’ll avoid country, similar to other genres and preferences. On the other hand, If you send us your top 10 songs of all time, we can not guarantee these will ALL be played but we’ll certainly use them as a guide to determine your style preferences. With regards to requests on the night, we love getting the input from your guests especially crowd favourites. Requests are a great way to get interaction involved and more often than not we’ll give it a go if we can. Of course, we reserve the right to have final say over the next song, only to ensure everyone has the best possible time!

Is the deposit refundable?

Once the deposit has been paid as per the quote, it is non-refundable in the event that your circumstances should change.

When is the final balance due?

Generally the final balance is due a couple of weeks before the event. At the latest, the amount owing must be cleared into our bank account before your wedding day. We're pretty flexible, so let us know if you need more time. From out experience many people like to pay early to get it out of the way. Of course, If we don’t have it in our account by the morning of your event, we cannot attend and perform for you.

What happens if a musician can’t make it due to an emergency?

Many small wedding bands are entirely reliant on each member of their ensemble, and if one band member is injured or sick, the show often can’t go on. This is not the case with us! We’re a band capable of large scale corporate shows (14 members and counting), and as such the smaller configurations of the band may vary in precise line up from from show to show. If you attend the showcase (and we recorded your attendance), the musicians you see at the showcase will always be booked as first priority based on availability. If you have indicated a preference for a specific lead singer, we will also book them as first priority or advise if that is not possible. Given the very rare reality of emergencies, sickness and drastic change in circumstances, of course we do not guarantee 100% to fill any requests. Rest assured if in the unlikely event this does arise, the same size and makeup of your band will be in attendance, and one of our amazing musicians (in their own right – not merely a substitute or understudy) will fill the spot. This is the great advantage of being a large show band that also performs at smaller events. We always have back up and you’ll never be subject to a cancellation! Please be aware then that we will not refund for any change of lineup.

What happens if the schedule changes on the night?

We will work with you leading up to your event to ensure that we have the same agreed schedule. Should there be any deviation on the night, we will do our best to go with the flow and play the equivalent of 4×45 minute sets. Sometimes schedules can go well over time due to factors outside our control, so if there isn’t enough time to complete our remaining sets before the end of the 5 hour period, we cannot continue past 5 hours unless arranged prior or paid in cash on the night. In other words, we are happy to go with the flow and be flexible with our set times throughout the night, but our agreed start and end times must be adhered to.

What does the band require for outdoor events?

If your event is planned for outdoors (or the band is to be located outdoors), please be aware that we require adequate cover & flooring to be provided. We require a level playing surface, and we cannot play on bare grass or dirt. Interlocking rubber matting is the most economical floor covering when playing atop these surfaces. In the event of wet weather, there is potential risk to the band’s equipment, which requires an effective wet weather backup. Water and electricity (and musical instruments) are a disastrous combination, the band will have discretion to decide not to play if any risk is apparent, so please ensure any wet weather contingency plan is adequate.
